Chapel Hill police are looking for information from the public to solve a hit-and-run accident that seriously injured a man in September.

According to authorities, at approximately 3:30 a.m. on Sept. 29, 23-year-old Joseph Russo, of Durham, was transported to Duke Hospital in critical condition after the accident. Russo was found lying on his side, along Fordham Boulevard and East Lakeview Drive.

Police believe that two vehicles may have been involved in the strike and are now seeking witnesses to help catch the perpetrators of the crime.

According to police, the vehicles may include a 1995-1999 Subaru Legacy sedan and a full-sized pickup truck.

According to the North Carolina General Assembly §20-166, a reasonable driver who is involved in a car accident that resulted in property damage, personal injuries, or death must immediately stop at the scene. Failing to do so is a criminal act.
