Do You Handle Construction Accidents for Injured Workers?

Dan Brian   |  March 7, 2017   |

Our law firm has handled both workers’ compensation claims and personal injury lawsuits for construction workers hurt on the job. Depending on the situation, there may be what is called a “third party claim,” which is a personal injury claim against a responsible person or business that is not the employer or a coworker. Third party claims can result in significant recoveries beyond workers’ comp alone. In this video, construction accident lawyer Gene Riddle explains why it is so important for injured workers or their family members to contact an attorney as soon as possible.

Riddle and Brantley has handled a lot of construction accidents in the past. These accidents are sometimes very complicated. They’re complicated to investigate and immediate investigation is so vital in that type of accident. Because again, the people on the construction site, the people who caused the accident, they’re in control of the evidence. They’re in control of the witnesses. They’re in control of the devices or defective equipment that caused the accident. So the sooner we get hired, the sooner we can get our investigation team on it to find out what really happened.

In those types of construction accident cases, a lot of times you find that the injuries are either fatal or cause very, very serious harm to the person that was in the accident. We’ve handled a lot of those cases. In fact, we just handled a workers comp case recently that may also be a third party claim. And what makes that unique is that our client was on the job, and he suffered a serious brain injury. We resolved this case recently this year for a very large sum of money.

And at the same time when I say a large sum of money, at Riddle and Brantley, we understand that no matter how much we get, it always seems like we wish we could have gotten just a little bit more. Because we represent our clients. We become attached to them. We love them and we want to do the very best we can. And in this case, even though we resolved the workers’ comp case, there may be a case against the other party that caused the accident.

And here’s what happens in those cases. Those parties disappear. They get off the site of the accident as soon as possible. Well that’s what we found in our experience, that the party that caused it, they’re gone. And then you try to track down the independent contractors. You can track down the main contractor, but the sub-contractor and those that are independent, they’re hard to track down. Please give us a call or send us an email. We’re here, we’re ready to help. Justice counts.
