In a complicated federal tort claim very similar to claims related to toxic water at Camp Lejeune, we successfully recovered $375,000 for the wife of a U.S. Army Service member who suffered an exacerbation of prior neck and back injuries while on base at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, in an accident involving a military police vehicle. Additionally, just a week after the incident, our client suffered a significant fall at her home, making it difficult to point to which injuries stemmed from which event. Our client’s medical care was largely paid for by her Medicare and Tricare insurance coverages, and we were able to obtain a substantial reduction in Medicare’s lien, and a waiver of Tricare’s lien, which allowed our client to net more of her settlement.
