Our client, a utility worker, suffered a back, hip and leg injury while working on a ladder. Client’s injuries required ongoing pain management but surgery was not necessary. Defendants required client to undergo vocational rehabilitation, but Riddle & Brantley, LLP brought the case to a hearing and a Deputy Commissioner found that our client was totally and permanently disabled.
Defendants were ordered to cease vocational rehabilitation and were ordered to provide medical and psychological treatment, ongoing wage replacement benefits and attorney fees for unreasonable defense. Defendants unsuccessfully appealed the decision to the Full Industrial Commission.
The claim was subsequently settled after our client received nine years of benefits for $190,000.
