Do I Qualify for a Paraquat Lawsuit?
Am I Eligible for a Paraquat Lawsuit?
That’s the question faced by many who have suffered Parkinson’s disease, who may have been exposed to Paraquat, a toxic and potentially deadly weed killer (herbicide). You may qualify for a Paraquat lawsuit if you have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease after exposure to Paraquat.
Those at especially high risk of exposure include farm workers, applicators, individuals living near farms, and even school children whose rural schools may have been subject to Paraquat drift or Paraquat overspray. Paraquat may also enter the groundwater due to runoff and endanger those whose drinking water supply is near farms that have applied the toxic weed killer.
Paraquat Lawsuit Eligibility
Our product liability lawyers are often asked, “Can I file a Paraquat lawsuit?”
You may qualify for a Paraquat lawsuit if you meet the following criteria:
- You handled Paraquat as a mixer, loader, or applicator or were otherwise exposed to Paraquat (and were properly licensed); OR
- You were exposed to Paraquat by Paraquat drift, agricultural overspray, or groundwater contamination
- AND you were diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease
Criteria for Paraquat lawsuit is especially stringent, and these cases can be extremely difficult to prove. Therefore, it is important that you contact an experienced Paraquat lawyer at Riddle & Brantley today for a FREE, no-obligation consultation and case review.

Paraquat use was widespread throughout the United States throughout the second half of the 20th century, and is still in use today, though on a more limited basis.

What is Paraquat?
Paraquat is an extremely toxic herbicide (weed killer) that was commonly used on farms in the 20th century. It is still used today, though it is less popular and health concerns — such as Parquat’s link with Parkinson’s disease — have led more than 30 countries to ban the herbicide. The product is still allowed as a “Restricted Use” chemical in the United States.
Major manufacturers of Paraquat include Syngenta and Chevron, both of which are alleged to have known Paraquat was dangerous and failed to warn consumers and regulators.
