Could Monsanto’s Roundup Pesticide Give You Cancer?

Photo of farmer spraying plantsDid you know that North Carolina is one of the nation’s top agricultural states? We produce peanuts, soybeans, cotton, and we produce more tobacco and sweet potatoes than any other state in the nation. Anything that affects agriculture in the U.S. affects our farmers right here in North Carolina, and that’s why California’s new revelation about Roundup should concern people all over the state.

IMPORTANT: While most Roundup lawsuits have already settled (or are in settlement negotiations), there is still time to file a Roundup claim provided the case meets certain criteria. If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma or chronic lymphocytic leukemia after exposure to Roundup, please call 1-800-525-7111 today for a free consultation.

Does Roundup Cause Cancer?

Back in 2015, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared that glyphosate was carcinogenic to human beings. It said that the chemical was possibly linked to cancers like Non-Hodgkins lymphoma, which alarmed people all over the world. That’s because glyphosate is the primary ingredient in Roundup, the number one weed killer worldwide.

Later, some disregarded the statement from WHO, however, researchers weren’t so quick to dismiss this finding. Now the California Environmental Protection Agency is backing up the claim. California is adding glyphosate to its list of potentially cancerous chemicals. That means products containing this chemical will have to have a label saying that its use could cause cancer.

Will Roundup Be Labeled Carcinogenic?

Monsanto—the company that makes Roundup—denies its product causes cancer and is fighting the labeling. It says there’s not enough evidence to connect its product to these cancers, and it says the labels will hurt its business. Are the executives of this business correct, or are they just trying to save their profit margin?

The answer to this question affect workers on the 49,500 farms spread throughout North Carolina. Will our farmers stop using Roundup if it does cause cancer? Will that hurt crop yields across the state? Have farm workers already come down with cases of Roundup caused cancer? Our North Carolina product liability lawyers will keep following this problem, because your health matters!
