Are There North Carolina Workers’ Comp Lawyers Who are Specialists?

Dan Brian   |  March 23, 2017   |

Why not speak to workers comp lawyers who are specialists for your claim? Not all attorneys who practice workers compensation law throughout North Carolina are also certified as specialists. In this video, workers comp lawyers Chris Brantley and Adam Smith introduce themselves and explain what it means to be a specialist in this area of law, and how they qualified for such an achievement.

The best part about hiring one of these attorneys for your workers comp claim or denial? It costs exactly the same to hire an attorney who is a specialist as it would be to hire any other lawyer.

I’m board certified by the North Carolina State Bar and Worker’s Compensation Law. There’s approximately a hundred attorneys that are certified as specialists. You have to demonstrate a certain amount of hours that you’ve spent on cases in the area, that you’ve taken a certain number of cases to the court of appeals, won a certain number of cases and that qualifies you to take test and about half the attorneys that take that test pass it and become certified specialists.

Just about every North Carolina attorney that handles workers’ compensation cases handles them on a twenty-five percent contingency fee. Which we do. So, there’s no difference in what you’re going to pay to have a board certified specialist. There’s really no reason not to have board certified specialist. And we have two here. Myself and Chris Brantley.

A board certified specialist has to show a certain level of expertise.

  • We have to show continuing legal education in the specialty.
  • You have to be referred by your peers who do workers compensation law and you have to pass a very rigorous exam.
  • You have to show that you’ve tried a certain number of cases every year. Handled a certain number of mediations.

And it’s very rigorous so that’s why I believe a specialist is generally best prepared to help you. Please give us a call or send us an email. We’re here. We’re ready to help. Justice Counts.
