“What are my chances of being approved for VA disability benefits?”
There are no guarantees when applying for veterans benefits. Every case is different and the VA’s decision will ultimately be influenced by the unique facts and circumstances of your case.
Most cases are initially denied. In fact, studies suggest that roughly 75 percent of veterans disability claims are initially denied.
That means that in order to be approved for benefits, you may need to appeal.
Hiring a North Carolina VA disability attorney can make a big difference in determining the outcome of your appeal.
A recent study by the VA determined that while just 24 percent of appeals without representation were approved, those veterans who did hire an attorney were approved nearly 40 percent of the time.
That’s a big difference. Don’t gamble with the potential veterans disability benefits that you deserve.

“Do I need to have been injured in active combat to qualify for VA disability?”
This is a common misunderstanding.
You do NOT need to have been injured in active combat or suffered a “battlefield” wound in order to qualify for veterans disability benefits from the VA.
In order to qualify, you must simply have satisfied the service requirement, been discharged without dishonor, and have suffered a “service-related” injury or illness resulting in disability.
A “service-related” injury or illness can be something as simple as injuring your back while playing basketball on a military base. Again, it does not need to be an injury or illness suffered in active combat.
A veterans benefits lawyer serving veterans in the Wilson NC area can help evaluate your claim and determine whether or not you may qualify for VA disability.
