Can I File a Medical Malpractice Claim Against My Dentist?
Can you file a claim against a dentist for medical malpractice? Earlier this year, after the tragic death of their child, a mother and father have filed a wrongful death claim against the child’s dentist, claiming a Medicaid scam led to their daughter losing her life. According to Fox Carolina, the child, who was only 14 months old, was undergoing a multiple baby root canals at the time of her death. Reportedly, the young girl died while under anesthesia.
The child’s dentist allegedly told her family that she needed the root canals and four crowns for her teeth, and that the procedure was normal. However, the family believes that the procedure that cost their little girl her life was unnecessary and simply a scheme to collect more money from Medicaid. Therefore, they are suing the dentist, anesthesiologist, the dentist’s practice and the anesthesiologist’s company for medical malpractice and wrongful death.
How Medical Malpractice Lawsuits Help Victims and Their Families
In a case such as the above, filing a medical malpractice lawsuit may help expose a scheme like this and prevent others from suffering in the future because of a doctor or hospital’s negligence. In addition, medical malpractice lawsuits enable victims and their families to hold physicians and healthcare facilities accountable for the pain and suffering they caused them, including securing the financial help they need for hospital bills, corrective medical procedures, rehabilitation, physical therapy, loss of income (including estimated future income) and funeral expenses.
