What Is AFFF Firefighting Foam?
AFFF, or aqueous film-forming foam, has been widely used in firefighting, particularly in military bases, airports, and industrial facilities across North Carolina. This foam contains per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), also known as “forever chemicals,” which have been linked to various cancers and other severe health issues.
Despite growing evidence of its dangers, AFFF was used for decades, exposing firefighters and other personnel to hazardous chemicals.
Property owners whose groundwater has been contaminated by AFFF runoff may also be at risk.
