What Should You Do After a Hit and Run Accident?

North Carolina Car Accident Lawyer Explains UM/UIM Insurance and Other Options

When dealing with the aftermath of a hit and run accident, it is important to review the situation and your own insurance policy with an attorney. The main way to receive compensation after a hit and run is to file an uninsured motorist claim with your own insurance company. Although it’s the insurance policy you purchased, the agents are not on your side. The insurance company will be looking out for its own best interest, not the policyholder. In this video, North Carolina car accident attorney Gene Riddle reviews the options that may be available after a hit and run crash injures a driver or passenger.

We see a lot of cases every year involving hit-and-run accidents and yes, there's a lot you can do if there's a hit-and-run accident. It's called uninsured coverage. You have a claim now against a driver that is unidentified and unknown, that is an uninsured claim, and we will make a claim against your company. Now there are situations where we are able to identify that driver at a later time and then we make a claim against that driver’s insurance company or that owner’s insurance company if you're uninsured coverage pays it, then that company will come back later and reimburse your company for what they paid on the claim. If you have a claim because of underinsured coverage or uninsured coverage, you still need a lawyer and the reason you need a lawyer, is because even though it's your insurance company, it's still an insurance company and the insurance company makes money because they don't pay claims. Please give us a call or send us an email. We're here, we're ready to help. Justice counts.
