What Happens After a Truck Crash

In the aftermath of a truck accident, one of the most important pieces of evidence is the wrecked truck itself. However, the trucking company and its insurer will take possession of the wreckage. These companies may try to effect repairs or destroy the vehicle. In this video, attorney Gene Riddle explains how a lawyer can take steps to preserve this important evidence before it is lost.

What happens to the actual tractor-trailer or large truck after a wreck depends on the amount of damage done to the tractor-trailer or the truck. If the amount of damage is minimal. It will go back to the shop owned by the owner of the truck for repairs. If it's damaged so that it's not drivable it will go to a repair shop. If it's totaled it will eventually be towed to a facility that takes care of total loss vehicles. Including total lost tractor trailers and trucks. And most importantly that wrecked tractor trailer or truck, large truck, will be in the control of that insurance company. Or the owner of the vehicle. At Riddle & Brantley we try very hard to preserve the evidence. All the evidence. With respect to the tractor trailer or large truck that caused the wreck. We can send a letter to the owner of the tractor trailer and the insurance carrier for the tractor trailer. To preserve that vehicle and not destroy it. It's called a spoliation letter. So, we send that letter to preserve everything about that truck. Including the black box. Please give us a call or send us an email. We're here, we're ready to help. Justice counts.
