In late 2016, our client was riding on the back of her friend’s motorcycle when it flipped unexpectedly, throwing her from the bike and causing severe injuries including a broken clavicle, fractured sternum, and fractured vertebrae. Initially, the driver of the motorcycle claimed that they were struck by another vehicle causing the accident. After an extensive litigation process, the insurance company of motorcycle driver tendered $30,000 in insurance coverage.
Due to the extent of our client’s injuries, our team didn’t stop there. We pursue an underinsured motorist claim against another insurance carrier. While this was difficult at first and initially denied, we were able to recover a fair settlement with the help of the client’s mother and through litigation. The insurance company finally tendered their coverage which included an additional $220,000.
